Function Health raised $450M for its preventive care push.
The round
Function Health, a digital health company focused on preventive care, has secured $450 million in growth financing. This substantial investment was led by General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund. The funding round comes just eight months after the company’s $298 million Series B round. While other investors in this latest round were not disclosed, the company has now raised over $800 million since its launch in 2023.
What Function Health does
Function Health operates a membership-based platform designed to provide individuals with access to comprehensive preventive health services. The company offers more than 160 different lab tests, covering areas from hormones to heart health. Members can order these lab panels directly, bypassing the need for a doctor’s referral. Beyond lab testing, Function Health also facilitates access to MRI and CT imaging services at over 200 locations nationwide, which are used for early detection of conditions such as cancer, aneurysms, and strokes.
The platform aims to integrate lab testing, imaging, and personalized insights into a single user experience, with physician-reviewed results accompanying tailored recommendations. Function Health CEO Jonathan Swerdlin stated that the company’s target audience includes anyone motivated to maintain their health, emphasizing that members are united by their desire for well-being rather than specific demographics like age or income. Over the past three years, Function Health members have completed more than 100 million lab tests. The company has also expanded its capabilities through strategic acquisitions, including Ezra in May 2025 for AI-powered full-body scans, mobile healthcare company Getlabs in April for at-home or in-office blood draws, and SuppCo for a nutritional supplement platform.
What the funding will do
The newly acquired capital is earmarked for scaling Function Health’s tech-enabled personalized preventive health services. According to CEO Jonathan Swerdlin, the funding will support the company’s mission to bring an “inevitable and optimistic future of human health into the present for as many people as possible.” General Catalyst partner Pranav Singhvi noted that the investment reflects a belief in Function Health’s potential to redefine preventive healthcare at scale and reach millions more individuals.
Why it matters
This significant funding round highlights a growing interest in digital health solutions that prioritize preventive care and early disease detection. Function Health’s model, which empowers individuals to proactively monitor their health through accessible lab tests and imaging, represents a shift from reactive healthcare to a more personalized and preventive approach. The investment by General Catalyst underscores confidence in Function Health’s ability to innovate within this evolving health sub-sector and potentially reshape how individuals engage with their long-term health.
